The fur color is dark brown in winter and turns reddish brown in summer, while the abdomen and buttocks are usually white. Helps with camouflage in forest environments of different seasons. Males have well-developed antlers, while females do not. Mainly feeds on plants, including leaves, tender branches, herbaceous plants, and berries. It is a solitary or small group animal, usually most active in the early morning and dusk.
